MetaCoat: Thin-Film Corrosion Protection for Metal

MetaCoat is Micron's clear, thin-film protective coating, developed to help protect metal surfaces against corrosion while keeping their appearance. It suits parts such as metal blades, where a thick or opaque coating is not an option.

The challenge

Corrosion can affect the appearance, performance and service life of metal components, yet some applications cannot accept a thick or opaque coating. The task was to develop a transparent, low-profile film that adds corrosion protection with as little change to the surface as possible.
